The U.S. Census Bureau released 2010 population, race and housing unit totals for the state of Georgia on March 17, 2011. ARC is currently processing these data, and will soon launch interactive tools that show a decade of change for all counties and cities within the 20-county Atlanta region. In this section, find files for a quick download and interactive maps and charts showing data for individual cities and counties.
The Atlanta Region
ARC is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for the 10-county Atlanta area, but also produces and collects data for a larger, 20-county area for air quality purposes, and provides services in some counties that it does not provide in others. So, the Atlanta region is defined in many different ways. This section of the site should help clear things up.
Regional Snapshots is a series of monthly publications that compile the latest data to explore important regional issues.
ARC offers the user two Interactive Mapping platforms, the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex and the Geocortex Interactive Mapping Tool. The ArcGIS Viewer for Flex is a more user-friendly environment for novice users and focuses on a select area of interest. The Geocortex Interactive Mapping Tool is a more advanced application that allows online access to a broader range of data.
GIS Data and Maps
ARC's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Division provides support and products to our planning staff and the public. GIS combines database information with geographic features, requiring hardware, software, data and people to create effective tools that can be used to view, query, analyze and map our region and world.
Source Water Assessment Project
Source water assessments are studies and reports, unique to each water system, that provide basic information about the water source used to provide drinking water.
