Georgia Cares
GeorgiaCares, a unit of Georgia’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), provides counseling and information about Medicare, Medicaid, prescription assistance, long-term care insurance and other health insurance related issues. Volunteers are available to provide educational presentations about these issues to groups.

SMP
The SMP (formally know as Senior Medicare Patrol) program educates seniors and their caregivers to recognize and prevent fraudulent Medicare and Medicaid activities. Topics include awareness of Medicare/Medicaid fraud, errors and abuse, how to avoid and how to report them. Trained volunteers, most of whom are retirees, provide the education.

Aging and Disability Resource Connection

The Atlanta Regional Commission also supports the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Seniors Advocacy of Georgia (GSAGA). Begun in March of 2004 as an advisory group for ARC's Aging Atlanta Project, GSAGA has evolved into its own independent entity. GSAGA brings together professionals in the field of aging and other individuals who are concerned about the unique issues facing GLBT older adults.
