PARKing Day 2013

PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform parking spots into temporary public parks. ARC's surface lot "park" will be joining over 975 others in 162 cities and 35 countries.

 

ARC’s Green Communities Program

ARC’s Green Communities Program is a voluntary certification program for local governments wanting to reduce their environmental footprint. Some 18 cities and counties have been certified. The deadline for the next round of certifications is May 24, 2013.

Sustainability at ARC

ARC is committed to reshaping policies that affect our internal sustainability operations and those that offer a broad reach in the Atlanta region.  We are committed to raising sustainability awareness and leading the way between the theory and practice of environmental planning.

Grants to Green

ARC has been accepted into The Community Foundation's Grants to Green initiative.  Through a partnership  with Southface, this initiative provides environmentally focused knowledge to metro Atlanta nonprofits to improve energy efficiency and lessen environmental impact.

ARC has been awarded the Bronze Bicycle Friendly Business award from the League of American Bicyclists.

Meeting Recycling Cart With on-going effort to promote green meeting practices and greater sustainability as an agency, ARC has purchased a rolling cart with recycling containers for use in your meetings. Here’s how it works (PDF).

ARC is aiming to reduce waste by two tons and increase recycling by two tons in the Two Tons in Two Years Challenge (PDF).
