Leading the Way to Cleaner Streams
Many streams in Georgia are not meeting state water quality standards. To help local governments clean up these streams, Georgia's Environmental Protection Division (GA EPD) has studied the maximum amount of pollution a stream can receive and still meet water quality standards. These limits are called Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs).
The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) helps local governments to develop plans to meet these water quality standards. For more information on the TMDL process please visit the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Web site.
Final Georgia 2008 305(b)/303(d) List Documents
The Georgia 2010 305(b)/303(d) list of waters was prepared by GA EPD as a part of the 2008 – 2009 assessment of water quality in Georgia prepared in accordance with Sections 305(b) and 303(d) of the Federal Clean Water Act and guidance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Assessed waterbodies are classified as supporting or not supporting designated water uses according to a comparison of water quality monitoring results to water quality standards and other pertinent information. This list is updated every two years. The 2008 list is the most current available.
