Envision6 - Planning for a Region of 6 Million - integrates land use, transportation, and water planning for the metro Atlanta region.

Atlanta Regional Commission forecasts that some 2.3 million more people will move to this region in the next 25 years. How can we accommodate this growth and still maintain our high quality of life?

Envision6 integrates land use planning, transportation planning, and water planning.
  • Land Use Planning
Envision6 takes a “scenario-based” based approach to planning. Scenario planning presents several “what if” situations to create different patterns of population and employment growth using simple tools to develop appropriate policies.
  • Transportation Planning
The RTP is a long-range plan which includes a balanced mix of projects such as bridges, bicycle paths, sidewalks, transit services, new and upgraded roadways, safety improvements, transportation demand management initiatives and emission reduction strategies. The Envision6 Regional Transportation Plan will cover the years through 2030 and was adopted by the ARC Board on September 26, 2007.
  • Water Planning
2.3 million more people means almost 300 million more gallons of water will be used per day.
