How to Apply for Training
Last modified Thursday, January 04, 2007 10:31
If you have selected a training program that is eligible for PELL grants and/or HOPE scholarships, you will be required to complete the federal Financial Aid Form (FAFSA) before being approved for training. FAFSA information packets are available from workforce offices, financial aid offices of area schools or at the FAFSA Web Site.
There are additional eligibility requirements for WIA financial assistance. Career Resource Center staff will review the criteria for training and determine if you qualify. Assistance with child care and transportation while you attend training may also be available.
Reimbursement for school, books, tuition and other expenses will not be paid for activities begun before the establishment of an individual training account, approval for training or issuance of a voucher for training services by Career Resource Center staff.
A thorough review of your work history, education, recent job search efforts and current financial situation must be completed before approval for training is provided.
To apply for training services under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), please contact the nearest Career Resource Center and schedule an appointment. Please download the Training Interests Questionnaire (Word) and bring it with you to your appointment. If some questions make you uncomfortable, you may wait and discuss your responses with a Career Advisor. In the meantime, we encourage you to visit other helpful Webs sites to search for other sources of financial aid, career information sites and job-hunting tools.
