With finite water resources and rapid growth, the need to carefully and cooperatively manage and protect metropolitan Atlanta’s river and streams has become a priority.
The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Environmental Planning Division's specific responsibilities and services provided by ARC include:
- on-going implementation of the Metropolitan River Protection Act (MRPA);
- providing technical assistance for multi-jurisdictional watershed protection programs;
- facilitating the Clean Water Campaign to address stormwater issues and conducting outreach concerning water efficiency and conservation; and
- providing the planning staff for the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District.

In this section of the Web site, you can navigate to find out more information about these programs, learn about stormwater management, Cleaner Streams, MRPA/Chattahoochee Corridor Protection, find important links, and learn more about water issues around the metropolitan North Georgia area.
