Regional Water Supply Plan

Last modified Tuesday, March 21, 2006 16:12

In the Atlanta region, water supply planning is done by the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District. In September of 2003, the District Board adopted the Water Supply and Water Conservation Management Plan.  The significant features of the Plan are:

  • Wisely use existing sources;
  • Reallocation of Lakes Lanier and Allatoona for water supply;
  • Completion of 5 currently planned reservoirs;
  • Addition of 1 new water treatment plant, expand 25 and retire 4;
  • The return of reclaimed water for reuse; and
  • Implementation of an aggressive water conservation program.
