2007 Regional Salary Survey

Last modified Tuesday, June 24, 2008 16:17

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) conducted a Regional Salary Survey to compare the salaries of various city and county occupations in the region.

Survey Process

Every county in the Atlanta region - Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale - was included in the survey to accurately illustrate how the 10 counties compare. Additionally, 18 cities were selected for the survey -Acworth, Alpharetta, College Park, Decatur, Duluth, East Point, Fayetteville, Hampton, Lilburn, Locust Grove, Loganville, Marietta, Norcross, Peachtree City, Roswell, Smyrna, Sandy Springs, Snellville, and Suwanee. The benchmark cities used in the survey were chosen because they represent some of the smallest, largest, and medium-sized cities in the Atlanta region.

The selected benchmark positions represent a wide range of occupations that most jurisdictions employ. Requests for job descriptions and minimum and maximum salary ranges were sent to the Human Resources/Personnel Director or City/County Clerk. Job descriptions were requested because job titles and job functions vary slightly between jurisdictions. The job descriptions were used to ensure that the correct occupation was included in the survey.

What’s in the Survey?

Listed in the survey are the minimum and maximum salary ranges for each city and county occupation. The salaries received were averaged to determine the minimum and maximum Average Market Salary for each city and county occupation. Please note that some jurisdictions do not employ every position selected for the survey. Also note that certain city and county occupations are appointed positions and do not follow a set salary range. In the survey, ‘N/A’ is used to demonstrate that the position either does not exist or is an appointed position.
