To address challenges faced by the region's youth who are from low income families, school dropouts, runaways, homeless, youth with disabilities, juvenile offender, or in the foster care system, the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board (ARWB) has created a Youth Council (PDF) to support a comprehensive youth system. The Council seeks to enhance academic and/or job skills through regional collaboration with local service providers, youth organizations and businesses by implementing programs such as:
- Tutoring and other services leading to completion of secondary school
- Alternative secondary school services
- Summer employment opportunities
- Work experiences and occupational skills training
- Leadership development opportunities
- Mentoring and Supportive services
