Things Are Looking Rosier, But Thorns Still Abound

In 2011 (from January – December, with the latter still preliminary), metro Atlanta added 47,000 new jobs, which in any other environment in recent memory would be terrible. In the post- “Great Recession” environment, this stands as good news.

It seemed that August 2010 was a turning point – it was the first time in over two years that metro Atlanta’s employment was not lower than one year prior. Things regressed until December of 2011, when Atlanta's employment was exactly the same as one year prior. Metro Atlanta is lagging the nation’s employment, however.
