Light Rail

Light Rail is an at-grade transit system almost entirely within existing street rights of way. The typical configuration has two tracks in the center of a two-way street, with center-platform stations. Another configuration is to locate the tracks in the curb lanes of one-way or two-way streets, using reserved sidewalk areas as stations. Light rail has frequent stops. Generally light rail is more costly than a bus alternative, but less expensive than heavy rail.
