PLAN 2040 is the metro Atlanta area’s long range plan for land development and transportation needs. It will guide growth for metro Atlanta through the year 2040 and address not only land use and transportation issues but environmental, economic, housing and human services challenges as well.
Recent Assessment of the State of the Metro Area
The first component developed for Plan 2040 is the Regional Assessment. The Regional Assessment identifies and focuses on the region's needs and its findings will lay the groundwork for policy and program development over the next 30 years to address these needs and challenges.

Plan 2040 is the planning process underway by the Atlanta Regional Commission to integrate a multitude of community aspects, including transportation and land planning/design as well as housing, greenspace, green energy, water and air quality as well as changing demographics and economics. The end product of this process (in 2011) will be two policy plans: a Regional Development Plan and a Regional Transportation Plan looking out to the year 2040.
Please take a moment to consider the questions in this survey. Your responses will be important to the regional planning team currently at work to develop these two planning efforts.
