Human Services Transportation

Human Services Transportation (HST) includes a broad range of transportation service options designed to meet the needs of older adults, people with disabilities and/or those with lower incomes. These individuals require different needs and services depending on their abilities, their environment and the options available in their community. Coordinating the various HST programs helps to improve the efficiency of limited transportation resources. Coordination also helps to remove duplication caused by the overlap of individual program efforts and encourages the efficient use of existing community resources.

ARC has developed a Coordinated HST Plan  for the Atlanta region. The plan establishes HST coordination goals and provides documentation of the project selection process for the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) HST programs Section 5316 Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC), Section 5317 New Freedom  and Section 5310 Elderly and Persons with Disabilities program funds.
