Human Services Transportation (HST) includes a broad range of service options designed to meet the needs of the region’s transportation disadvantaged, including persons with disabilities, individuals with lower incomes and older adults. These individuals have different needs and require a variety of transportation services to ensure quality of life. Planning and Coordinating HST helps to improve the efficiency of limited transportation resources, reduce duplication of services, and improve customer satisfaction.

2012-2013 Coordinated HST Plan Limited Update
Since the Atlanta region’s Coordinated Human Services Transportation (HST) was developed and adopted in April of 2010, the region has also adopted a 20+ year Long Range Transportation Plan known as PLAN 2040. PLAN 2040 incorporates the mobility needs of HST populations and recommends strategies and solutions to meet those needs. Other initiatives that have a significant impact on HST planning in the region have also taken place since the adoption of the 2010 coordinated plan. As a result of PLAN 2040 and other major initiatives, there is a need to conduct a limited technical update to the region’s Coordinated HST Plan. This update also documents the final FY 2012 Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) and New Freedom “Call for Projects”, for the Atlanta region, governed under the previous transportation bill known as SAFETEA-LU.
The plan update is scheduled to go before the ARC Board in March 2013 for approval, pending there are no significant public or stakeholder comments. Click here to review a copy of the 2012-2013 limited plan update.
