ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM

The ARWB’s On-the-Job (OJT) training program provides employers with opportunity to train new employee(s) and receive up to 90% reimbursement for their salary during the OJT training period.  OJT helps employers fill the gap between a potential employee’s skills and what is required to fully perform their job.  Read about the Boom in Animation Careers on page 4 of ARC's Action Newsletter and how the OJT Program has Benefited Growing Video Game Company on page 8.

Workforce Solutions Overview

As the administrator for the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board (ARWB), ARC's Workforce Development Division provides workforce solutions for dislocated workers, unemployed adults and youth; and for businesses seeking qualified applicants. 

Workforce Investment Act Plan

The Atlanta Regional Workforce Board’s Workforce Investment Act plan update for the counties of Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties is available for review.  A copy of the plan is available at the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the administrative and fiscal agent for the Chief Elected Officials of the above counties.  Please contact the Workforce Development Division at 404-463-3326 if you are interested in reviewing the document at the ARC offices. 

Current Initiatives

Go Build Georgia  is a nationally-recognized awareness effort launched by the Governor's Office of Workforce Development designed to educate young people and the public at large about the skilled trades and how to pursue a career in these fields. 

Operation Workforce

Governor Nathan Deal and the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development, in partnership with the Georgia Dept of Labor launched several statewide workforce development initiatives aimed to aid Georgia’s returning veterans. With an estimated 80,000 new veterans expected to enter Georgia’s workforce by 2016, these new programs will help ensure veterans have a smooth transition back into the civilian workforce.
GOWD launched Operation: Workforce which serves as an online one-stop for veteran resources and services in Georgia.  The website will host job listings from companies across the state of Georgia who are looking to fill their positions with hard working veterans.

The Innovation Crescent is internationally recognized as a unique hub of life science talent and is a regional coalition dedicated to supporting the futureGeorgia Innovation Crescent Logo growth of Georgia’s life sciences. The I.C. is comprised of 13 economic development entities and Chambers of Commerce with goals to expand existing life science industries, align education and workforce development resources to support the life science industry cluster and grow high-wage jobs.
