ACCG Summer Internships

The Association County Commissioners of GA(ACCG) has received a $250,000 grant from the GA Dept of Labor to help fund an 8-week summer through the GA County Internship Program (GCIP). The GCIP was developed by ACCG in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education (ARCHE) to provide internship opportunities in various county departments and recruit college students to participate.  The internship program is open to undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of college majors. The Georgia County Internship Program gives more information and current internship opportunities.

At present, no funds have been identified specifically for a subsidized jobs program for youth for the Summer 2012, and at this time, there are no expectations that such funds will be forthcoming.

Federal Stimulus funding for subsidized summer jobs for youth that was available for Summer 2009 and 2010 through the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board and the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program was also not available for Summer 2011.

Full-year youth development programs for low income youth sponsored by the Atlanta Regional Workforce Board and the Workforce Investment Act continue to be available.  If you are interested in full-year youth development programs for low income youth, and you live in Cherokee, Clayton, Douglas, Fayette, Gwinnett, Henry or Rockdale counties, please contact programs near where you live from the ARWB Youth Programs (PDF) which offer services for the seven-county Atlanta Regional Workforce Area.
